Nigeria : Bola Tinubu, President

The candidate of the ruling Progressive All Congress (APC) won the highly contested elections after scoring 37 % of the vote cast.

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 declared Bola Tinubu winner of the 2023 presidential election. Mr Bola Tinubu, candidate for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), came first after 8, 794. 724 voters gave him a 37% score. He is followed by another political veteran Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 29% score from 6. 984. 520 voters. Labour Party’s candidate Peter Obi scored with 25% votes after 6,101.000 cast their votes for him, 6.23.5% for New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso and the rest of the candidates 2.7%. Presenting the final results at the National Collation Center in the presence of dignitaries, the INEC boss Mahood Yakubu, hailed the electoral process. He said, the massive turn out of voters was an indication that Nigerians from all walks of life are patriotic. He pleaded for the calm and serenity that reigned before, during the election to continue.
