Commonwealth Day : Cameroon Celebrates Core Values

Minister Felix Mbayu presided at the flag hoisting ceremony in Yaounde on March 6, 2023.
Ahead of the commemoration of this year’s edition of the Commonwealth Day billed for March 13, 2023, Cameroon has officially launched week-long activities in Yaounde. This was through a flag hoisting ceremony presided at by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, on March 6, 2023 in the presence of other government officials and High Commissioners and Consuls of Commonwealth member countries. This year’s edition is being commemorated under the theme “Forging a sustainable and peaceful common future.”
In a keynote address by Minister Felix Mbayu, he stated that Cameroon has over the years made it a tradition of kick-starting activities through the hoisting of the flag which is aimed at demonstrating the connection, friendship and ties that bind the country with the Commonwealth. He noted that Cameroon has in over its three decades with the Commonwealth maintained fruitful and multifaceted ties with the Gentlemen’s Club. “We celebrate our unique bond of friendship and capacity to shade light on share values under a common theme,” the Minister stated.
