Bamenda : Women Showcase Bravery Amidst Threats

Women from various walks of life showed up massively at the Commercial Avenue Ceremonial Grandstand yesterday March 8, 2023.
Amidst a lockdown imposed in the North West Region, women in the city of Bamenda came out massively on March 8, 2023 and celebrated the International Women’s Day 2023. This year's turnout was massive and even the women themselves were shocked going by their comments immediately after the March past in Bamenda. The Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand has not for the past six years since the start of the crisis witnessed this year's ambiance. Many people could be spotted struggling to get seats as the grandstand was completely full.

During the celebration in Bamenda, women who distinguished themselves in activities in different domains were recognized featuring the five-time winner and the best female runner in the just-ended Mount Cameroon Race of Hope in 2023, Tatah Carine who amongst others received her recognition from the Governor of the North West Region Adolphe Lele Lafrique and was cheered my women for flying the flag of the region high. Other women who excelled in metal works, crafts, graphic designing, New Technologies and digital tools, North West representatives of Google women, community mobilizers, and the 2nd and 3rd winners of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope 2023 were equally recognized for the role they are playing in the society. Winners of sporting competitions were also awarded trophies.
