Checking Incompatibilities : Verification Commissions Constituted

This was during a plenary sitting of April 12, 2023 chaired by the eldest member of the Senate, René Ze Nguele.
Various Commissions responsible for the verification of cases of incompatibility of Senators have been put in place. This was during a plenary sitting of April 12, 2023 chaired by the provisional bureau of the Senate, led by its eldest member René Ze Nguele, in the presence of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Relations with Assemblies, Bolvine Wakata. A total of four Commissions were put in place, in accordance with Article nine of the Standing Orders of the Senate. They were given alphabetical names (A, B, C and D). The aforementioned Article states that such Commissions are supposed to be made up of 25 members maximum and given that the Senate has 100 Senators, four Commissions were thus created to facilitate the verification process. Articles 58 and 31 of the Standing Orders of the Senate further give specifications on the establishment process of the various Commissions, aspects which were all respected by the lawmakers. All the Commissions were put in place by a voting process.
The first Commission to be put in place (going by the aforementioned alphabetical order) has 23 Senators of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party, one Senator of the National Alliance for Democracy and Progress (NADP) and one Senator of the Democratic Movement for the Defence of the Republic (MDR). A total of 95 votes were cast and all voted in favour of the list of 25 members, as they were no null ballots.
