Fight Against Corruption : Several Suspects In CONAC’s Net

This follows a three-day campaign carried out by the Anti-Corruption institution in the West Region.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in its continuous efforts to step up the fight against corruption on April 18, 2023 launched an initiative dubbed “Anti-corruption clinic.” The improved strategy was launched by the Chairman of the institution, Rev. Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams and seeks taking the campaign closer to the grassroots, make them understand the damages of corruption to the society and how they can denounce such actions for the collective growth of the nation. Three days into the activities of “Anti-corruption clinic” in the West Region, and working in collaboration with the justice department, police and other intelligence units, several suspects in corruption acts have been arrested and some charged before the law Courts already. According to the officer in charge of prevention and communication at CONAC, Irene Morikang, the first indices indicate that several suspects have been caught in the corruption acts. She noted with satisfaction that the over 100 complaints submitted to the Commission using different communication channels and various sources of denunciation, have permitted CONAC and its judicial team to investigate details and facts to come out with concrete results leading to the arrest of suspects. Irene Morikang cited a gate man at the Bafoussam City Council caught collecting FCFA 2,000 from public service users pretending to assist them obtain public services.
