North West : Stable, Encouraging Security Situation

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Rene Claude Meka on April 27, 2023 at the 501 Air Force Base in Bafut near Bamenda urged officials and soldiers of the defence and security forces of the 5th Joint Military Region fighting armed separatists to continue working with the same commitment. He enjoined them to do their best for definitive calm to return to the restive North West Region.
The Chief of Defence Staff during his first phase of operational control, security and health mission to the 5th Joint Military Region for this year 2023 had a close to three-hour in camera working session with officials on the operational, security and health situation of the North West Region. Talking to the press after the meeting, the Commander of the 5th Joint Military Region, Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo said the Chief of Defence Staff came to control and evaluate the operational, security and health situation in the North West Region.  He revealed that after the presentations, the Chief of Defence Staff noted that the security situation is stable and encouraging.
