Bafoussam : Labour Day Celebrated With Enthusiasm And Fanfare

The atmosphere at the Bafoussam ceremonial ground, on 1st May, 2023, with activities marking this year international labour day, was that of total excitement and anxiety among workers of some 120, public and private enterprises, Government services and Non Governmental organizations in the west region, who demonstrated their support for this day by participating in the match pass that was marked by enthusiasm and fanfare. Secondly, labour day celebration was coming up after a three years break due to the outbreak of the COVID-19, pandemic in 2020.
It was an opportunity for Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, to use the occasion to reassure workers of various actions that the Government is taking to protect workers’ rights, nation economy, as well as defending the national wellbeing of all Cameroonians.  He cited social dimensions tailored towards protection of the vulnerable sector, giving an example of the Universal Health Coverage launched by the Government recently, that support women, children and the unemployed. Governor Awa Fonka, equally talked of several international conventions signed to support the private sector in Cameroon.
