Buea : Youth Groups Uphold Importance Of Peace

This was as they joined the world in celebrating the International Day for Living In Peace.
Calls on the importance of peace rented the air in Buea on May 16, 2023, as youth joined the international community in commemorating the International Day for Living In Peace. It was chaired by Mbua Isaac Ikome, South West Regional Delegate for Youth and Civic Education, at the Buea Youth and Animation Centre. In attendance were civil society organisations working on peace like Peace Academy, Bless Foundation, Local Youth Corner, Lesly Foundation and many students. With lighted candles in hands, the participants saluted the works of those who dedicated their lives working for peace and ended up losing their lives. They pointed in the sky their index finger and middle finger widely opened while clinching the remaining three fingers as a sing of peace.
Mbua Isaac Ikome told the participants that peace is very important for the development of all communities. He stresses on the importance of dialogue whenever there is disagreement, the importance of tolerance and importance of living together. That these are prerequisite for peace to reign. “If you cannot tolerate another person’s opinion and way of live then there will never be peace. We should try as individuals to be peace makers by accepting others,” he indicated.
