Why did you leave the United States where you work to come and operate on Cameroonians for free?
This is the second time RESTORE Worldwide Inc., the Foundation for Reconstructive Surgery, embarking on a medical mission to Yaounde. During our first mission in June 2022, the team completed some fifty surgeries, with the support of Avi Sivan Abraham Foundation (ASAF) founded by Eran MOAS. The team is back with its largest group of volunteers, numbering over 40 to possibly double or triple the lives we changed in the earlier mission. This mission will be our 24th around the world since RESTORE was launched fifteen years ago.

Which cases are going to be priority this time around?
 As is it always done, our healthcare personnel consists of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, surgical techs, physician assistants, or nurses, statisticians, and administrative staff. We will offer free surgeries on cases such as Cleft lip and palate repair: craniofacial surgery, brain tumor, spine/orthopedic surgery, tumor resection and reconstruction, bone reconstruction, breast surgery including mastectomies and reconstruction, Hand, foot & extremity surgery, excision and debulking of tumors, Intersex surgery/gender re-affirmation surgery, Complex reconstruction, Urology /gynecology procedures, and auditory diagnostics and care. What is special about this mission is the introduction of Gil Tepper, MD. Dr.Tepper is tasked with setting up RESTORE’s spine programme. It is also important to mention that the mission will see the inclusion of an audiologist in their team of healthcare professionals.
