Pentecost Sunday : Christians Enjoined To Be One In Spirit

Christians in Cameroon have joined their counterparts worldwide in celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday. This was through special church services yesterday May 28th, 2023 in different Christians denominations.  Biblically, on the day of Pentecost, Jesus’ followers were gathered together, and the Holy Spirt “filled the whole house where they were sitting” (Acts 2:2). The bible says all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit enabled them” (Acts 2:4). 
At the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde, through two special church services, the congregation was told: “If you are filled with the Holy Spirit you must be involved in sharing for sharing is caring.” Reading from the book of Acts 4:32-37, Reverend Dr Joseph Jikong, the Senior Pastor of the Church preached on the theme: How Far can the Christian go in sharing? The preacher said it was important to know how to share by learning from the early believers, assist people at all times and adopt the attitude of encouragement. 
According to Rev Joseph Jikong, all the early believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had, he noted. The preacher said it is necessary for the spirit of oneness to be present amongst Christians at all times. He explained that people should matter more than property or possessions and that Christians should be seeing each other through the eyes of grace and above all may God deliver Christians from tribalism in Jesus’ name.
