Cameroon General Certificate of Education : Written Phase Begins Today

The practical phase of the 2023 examinations organised by the Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board (CGCEB) which started on May 5, 2023 ended on May 26. This has given way to the written phase which begins today May 30, 2023, as candidates start putting pen on paper nationwide. In all, there are 182,224 candidates that will take the four different examinations throughout the national territory. The number of registered candidates this year has dropped by 40 candidates against 182,264 candidates who registered in 2022 session. 
The Cameroon General Certificate of Education’s Ordinary Level (O/L) has 93,762 candidates. Then GCE Advanced Level (A/L) recorded 64,123 candidates. The Technical and Vocational Education Examination (TVEE) Intermediate Level (IL) has 14,909 candidates and TVEE Advanced Level got 9,430 candidates. The number of registered candidates as per region is as follows: North West 27,103, South West 42,014, Centre 42,563, Littoral 44,088, West 15,486, North 1,465, South 2,959, East 2,452, Adamawa 2,455 and Far North 1,639 candidates. 
Candidates sitting O/L will begin the examination with Economics I at 8 AM and Economics II at 1 PM. Their academic seniors at Advanced Level will take Economics I and Geology I depending on the candidates’ series at 8 am and the paper IIs of the same subjects will come up at 1 PM.  Then those of TVEE IL will take on the paper I of nine different subjects depending on the candidates’ specialties.
