Cameroon-Chad : Neighbours With Common Interest

There are several eminent aspects that bind Cameroon and Chad together. Being terrestrial neighbours, common projects and challenges cut across. Officials of both countries, on a constant basis, collaborate and reflect on enhancing these ties for the mutual benefits of their various populations. It is in the context of strengthening bilateral relations that the President of the Republic, Paul Biya on June 19, 2023, granted an audience to the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of Chad, Dr Gali Ngothe Gatta, special envoy of the Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby. President Paul Biya and the Minister of State who was the bearer of a message from his leader, held talks on issues of mutual interests, each reaffirming their support for the growth of ties between Yaounde and N’Djamena.
Cooperation ties between the two countries span several areas and there are some ongoing projects as well as achievements to attest to the volume of collaboration. As concerns infrastructure, Cameroon and Chad collaborated in the construction of the Ngaoundere-Touboro-Moundou road, the second bridge over the Longone between Yagoua in Cameroon and Bongor in Chad, and improving the electrification network between both countries. There is also the Cameroon-Chad Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project for the development of oilfields production near Doba in Southern Chad and its transportation to a floating storage and offloading vessel anchored off the coast of Cameroon, near Kribi.
