Boumba and Ngoko Division : CERAC Empowers Population With Dev’t Outfits

Over 10 trucks of vital equip ment were off-loaded at the municipal stadium of the Gari - Gombo locality in the East Region on Saturday June 24, 2023. The gifts from the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya, Founding President of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), were handed over to health facilities, rural women and youths of the Boumba and Ngoko Division of the East Region. Representing the First Lady at the event was the Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs Pauline Irène Nguene Kendeck, who is also Vice President of the College of Counsellors of CERAC. She headed a delegation of CERAC women who were joined by local administrative authorities, elite from the Region among whom the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Joseph LE, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Public Works in-charge of Roads, Armand Ndjodom, and a host of locals, in thanking the First Lady for the timely gifts. Minister Pauline Irène Nguene said neither the dust, nor the rain, nor the remoteness of a locality with bumpy roads daunts the determination of the First Lady of Cameroon and members of her association, from reaching out to the most vulnerable people in the country. For over two decades, CERAC has been assisting disadvantaged social strata, in the fields of education, health, the promotion of women and young girls, the fight against poverty and pandemics and providing assistance to disaster victims in all regions of the country. Because CERAC is seeking the economic empowerment, socio-cultural education and proper healthcare of the local population, the First Lady’s representative noted that the association came along with medical apparatus for three health centres in the locality, modern agricultural tools for 14 rural women associations, office equipment, kitchen utensils and tailoring machines for four youth associations. “Each day, we seek to show our solidarity and support for women and young people, by providing them with assistance in the form of various donations” Pauline Irène Nguene underscored. CERAC With The Gari Gombo Child The ceremony was an opportunity for CERAC to join the international community in commemorating the 33rd Day of the African Child. This was a clear indication that the First Lady, Chantal Biya, did not just end the commemoration of the Day of the African Child with a message to the national and international community on June 16, 2023. The presence of CERAC at Gari Gombo was an indication that the First Lady’s commitment in improving the living conditions and protecting the rights of children remained intact. Irene Nguene said they were in Gari Gombo to assess actions to combat violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children.
