Education Sector : World Bank Evaluates Projects In Cameroon

This was during an audience the Minister of Basic Education granted to the Director of Operations of the World Bank on June 27, 2023.

The new World Bank Group Country Director of Operations for Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of Congo, Cheick F. Kanté has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing educational projects his institution is carrying out with the government of Cameroon. He was speaking in Yaounde on June 27, 2023 after an audience with the Minister of Basic Education, Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa. Cheick F. Kanté told the press that with a few weeks already in Cameroon, it was important he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Basic Education. The visit, he said, also aimed at informing the Minister that henceforth, he will be spearheading the projects the World Bank is carrying out with the government of Cameroon particularly at the Ministry of Basic Education. The Ministry of Education, Cheick F. Kanté said, is a key partner to the World Bank in Cameroon. According to him, education is a key pillar in building human capital and that they are working with the government of Cameroon to improve access, quality and the relevance of education. For several years, the World Bank Group Country Director said they are spearheading the Support Programme for Education Reform in Cameroon (PAREC) at the sum of FCFA 135,835 billion and he looks forward to strengthening the outcome of the projects. So far, he said a lot of results have been achieved, despite challenges. The challenges he noted, will be looked into for better results.
