Ensuring Return To Peace In NW/SW : Prime Minister Encourages Input Of Senators

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute has appealed to Se nators from the North Westand South West Regions to fully support ongoing efforts to restore peace in the two regions and to increase their presence on the field. He was speaking at his lakeside residence in Yaounde on June 28, 2023 during a diner offered in honour of the Senators following their election and reappointment in the law-making House. It is the first meeting between the Prime Minister and the lawmakers of the two regions of the third legislative period of the Senate. Marked by light-hearted exchanges and pleasantries, it was also an opportunity to rally for peace in the two restive regions with the Prime Minister encouraging them to intensify their field activities. “The socio-political crisis that has destabilised our two regions since 2016 remains our common obsession. However, the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya, we have demonstrated an unflinching commitment towards achieving lasting peace in these troubled regions. I therefore entreat you to intensify activities on the field,” Joseph Dion Ngute said. On their part, the legislators who saluted the commitment of the Prime Minister to finding lasting peace in the concerned regions, pledged their total support to peace initiatives.
