Bringing Relief To Palliative Patients : Organisation Donates FCFA 2.6 Million

Initiated by 1000 Project, the money will provide medical care to palliative patients in Baptist Hospital Mutengene.

An organisation called 1000 Project has brought its partner Cameroon British Soldiers and Armed Forces Association (CAMBRIS-AF) to rescue palliative care patients. With its slogan of “Giving back initiative” CAMBRIS-AF donated FCFA 2, 578, 000 to Baptist Hospital Mutengene (BHM). The money is meant to assist with the purchase of relief pain medications for palliative care patients. The donations were made on Thursday June 29, 2023 at the hospital chapel.
Wango Barnabas, Board member of 1000 Project, explained that the project started in 2017. They collect FCFA 1000 yearly from their members, their friends and well-wishers to buy pain medications for palliative patients. The money is collected from January to December and then donated to a health facility that has palliative care patients. The idea is to bring FCFA 1000 to buy medication for people who cannot afford to do so. Palliative patients are people suffering from life limiting conditions. Foudjuo Oliver, CAMBRIS-AF’s President was represented at the event by Canisius Yella. He said its members are conscious of service to their communities. That choosing BHM which is a road junction was strategic to touch many lives. That their own way to help patients is by paying for their drugs.
