Limbe : Church Street Towers Social Ills of City

“As a Church, we don’t have the powers. But I think that, if possible, the promiscuity of Church Street can be relocated, I think that at the heart of the town like this it is not healthy.”  That is the plea from Rev. Pastor Legin Kingsley of the Apostolic Church in Limbe being directed to the authorities of Limbe, headquarters of Fako Division in the South West Region. Church Street is arguably a rendez-vous centre for visitors and merry seekers. Many who know Limbe would testify that the level of promiscuity and noise pollution at Church Street is legendary. 
The name, ‘Church Street’ is said to have come as a result of the several Churches that are located along this street stretching from Half Mile eastward until one gets to Saker Baptist College entrance. For more than 50 years, this Street has been called Church Street because one can find the Apostolic, Catholic, Baptist, and the Presbyterian Church all along this stretch. Over the years, many other Pentecostal churches have even added to the above number. 
But the paradox is that the street harbours the highest visited beer parlours, bars, prostitution hubs and many other socially relaxing but immoral activities, which the churches usually preach against.
One of the Churches that is really located at the heart of where these nocturnal activities in Limbe take place is the Apostolic Church. Behind the Church is said to be a hub of brothels.  And within this area you will find drinking spots in their numbers.
