North West : Senators, PIC To Partner For Development

The Senators and the Public Independent Conciliator have the same missions as they both work with Regional and Local Authorities to improve on the living conditions of the population.
Peace and development are expected to be greatly enhanced on the North West Region as the Senators at of the region at the beginning of third legislative period and the Public Independent Conciliator are poised to work within a partnership platform to ensure proper functioning of the Regional Assembly and local authorities to improve on the living conditions of the population.
The roots of the partnership started germinating during the one-day information seminar for Senators of the North West Region on the creation, organization and functioning of the Public Independent Conciliator that took place in Bamenda on July 14, 2023. The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region Tamfu Simon Fai presented to the Senators the creation, missions and functioning of PIC. The Research Officer Ndi Nelson Ngayinkfu at the Office of the PIC drilled the Senators on the substantive mandate of the Public Independent Conciliator, while another Research Officer, Barrister Yang Francis Fonmbi presented on the topic the complaint management mechanism and the conciliatory process.
According to the law to institute the General Code of Regional and local authorities that comes to complement the 1996 Constitution of Cameroon with regard to decentralization, Senators and the PIC have to work together to accelerate local development by ensuring the proper management of Regional Assembly and local councils.
