AU’s Agenda 2063 : Synergy Strongly Recommended

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute urged legislators from 21 African Commonwealth countries as he chaired the opening of their 18th parliamentary conference on July 18, 2023.
Lawmakers from some 21 African Commonwealth countries have been encouraged to come up with regulations that accompany government in the drive towards realising outline principles in the Agenda 2063 of the African Union. The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute urged the legislators to closely collaborate at national and bilateral levels for inclusive development across the continent as he chaired the opening of the 18th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) – Africa Region on July 18, 2023 on behalf of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. Placed under the theme, “African Parliaments and Agenda 2063,” the legislators who met once every two years are currently reflecting on strategies to tackle challenges to the implementation of the policy that seeks to enhance a more united, prosperous and peaceful Africa.
In Cameroon, just like many other African States, the implementation of Agenda 2063, the Prime Minister noted, is facing many challenges amongst which are external and internal shocks mainly caused by climate change, health pandemics, insecurity and instability. “We expect you to act in synergy at the level of your respective countries as well as within the framework of bilateral relations in order to support and accompany the public policy of governments. In your capacity as representative of the people, whose aspirations and hope you represent and in your dual role as legislators and monitor of public action, your role is decisive on the implementation of Agenda 2063. Furthermore, you are a source of ideas,” the Prime Minister told the lawmakers.
