Buea : Teenage, Single Mothers Trained In Trades

Close to 30 teenage and single mothers from Buea and vicinity have been assembled and taught economic, social and moral values to enable them come out of their trauma of rape, single motherhood and abandonment.  The Bible Society of Cameroon (BSC) organized the training in the South West Regional capital to rekindle hope among desolate teenage and single mothers on how to begin self-sustaining economic, financial and social activities.
As a group that works with various Christian churches to translate, produce and distribute the Bible and support literacy and teaching programmes, the BSC identifies and pulls needy people out of psychological sufferings and ignorance through field bible activities. They have been on the field in Cameroon since 1959 as a branch of the 1804-founded worldwide society working in 240 countries to popularise the possession, understanding and translation of the Bible.
To combat social ills like poverty, promiscuity, teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse and violence, the BSC, through their regional Littoral and South West Delegate, Samuel Mahop, combed localities in the South West Region to empower teenage victims with basic income-generating skills. They operated a one-week camp from July 23 through 28, 2023, at the Baptist Comprehensive High School, Buea.
