Defence Attachés, Military Advisers : Protecting Republican Institutions Reinterated

Defence attachés and military advisers of the country’s different diplomatic posts who attended the second Cameroon Military Cooperation Conference at the Ministry of Defence in Yaounde from August 9-11, 2023 have been urged to redouble efforts in protecting republican institutions within their territory of jurisdiction. The call was made by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo as he presided at the close of the conference on August 11, 2023. Besides protecting republican institutions which embody the image of Cameroon, the Minister also asked for the adequate protection of Cameroonians and meeting up to their consular and other legal needs. 
Going by a series of recommendations made by Minister Joseph Beti Assomo, he also encouraged the participants to communicate adequately amongst themselves and share their experiences in order to enhance Cameroon’s diplomatic practice. He added that they should properly manage resources put at their disposal, follow-up interns and others on refresher courses within their territories and search for new partners. The different defence attachés and military advisers were also urged to collaborate with hierarchy for effective functioning of diplomatic and consular posts. Minister Joseph Beti Assomo also congratulated them for their contributions to deliberations, noting that they have updated their knowledge on current international issues, stakes and challenges in an ever changing world. “You have been briefed on the expectations of the high command.
