Cameroon-MTN : Improved Services In View

Investment opportunities were discussed between the Group President and CEO of the telecoms company, Ralph Mupita and the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute on August 25, 2023.
On the sidelines of the 15th edition of the BRICS Summit which held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted an audience to the Group President and Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Ralph Mupita on August 25, 2023. The two personalities held talks on the investments by the telecommunications company, its vision towards improving the services it offers in Cameroon and the ongoing judicial squabbles concerning the freezing of the company’s accounts in the country.
Going by the statement of the Group President and CEO of MTN, they have plans on improving the quality of services and investing in infrastructure and the mobile money sector of the company. “We spoke about MTN’s commitments to invest in Cameroon. We are planning to invest about 200 million dollars (approximately FCFA 121,5 billion) for infrastructure development over the next three years. And in our mobile money business, we are also looking to invest up to 25 million dollars (approximately FCFA 15,1 billion) to expand the mobile money services across Cameroon. So we had very good discussions about our commitment to invest in Cameroon for the next couple of years,” he explained.
