Best Practices Archiving Awards : Institutions, Personalities Celebrated

Prime Minister, Head of Government presided at the ceremony yesterday which also witnessed the official launch of activities for the 5th edition of the International Archives Week.
Public and private institutions that have distinguished themselves in the consolidation of archives have been awarded. This was during a solemn ceremony of Best Practices Archiving Awards, chaired by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on September 7, 2023. He also officially launched the 2023 International Archives Week.
A total of 14 awards were handed with the Head of State being given a special trophy in recognition to his significant policies and directives towards the preservation of national archives which constitute the base of our identity. The award was received by the Prime Minister on his behalf. Arts and Culture Minister, Bidoung Mpkwatt was also given a special price for the respect and implementation of government directives in the archiving sector. Some 43 candidacies were received and the jury, comprising 14 experts in varied sectors related to the preservation of documents, scrutinised the applications for a period of six months. They based their examination on the criteria of governance, infrastructure and human resource. Applicants were also questioned by the jury.
For private institutions, the Gulf University Institute received the award of Archiving Infrastructure and NFC Bank went home with the Best Practices Archiving Award. For State enterprises, ART, FODEC and ARMP were awarded for Archiving Commitment, FEICOM for Best Academy Management, the Douala Port Authority for Best Archiving Infrastructure and the NSIF handed the Best Practices Archiving Award. As concerns ministries, the Ministries of Forestry and Wildlife, as well as Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industry were handed the awards for Archiving Commitment by the Grand Chancellor of National Orders, Philemon Yang.
