Nyong and Kelle Division : CERAC’s Solidarity Caravan Assists Population

The Representative of the First Lady of Cameroon, on the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) humanitarian mission in the Nyong and Kelle Division of the Centre Region, Reine Felicité Beti Assomo, has appealed to the generosity of all Cameroonians in showing solidarity and humanism to vulnerable persons. She was speaking in Makak on Saturday, September 30, 2023 during a ceremony to officially hand over Government Bilingual High School Makak, rehabilitated and equipped by CERAC, as well as to offer diverse gifts to rural women and youths of the Nyong and Kelle Division of the Centre Region.
Reine Felicité Beti Assomo underscored that social progress needs everyone's contribution and one of the objectives of CERAC is to help populations create more decent living conditions. This is why members of the humanitarian caravan created by the First Lady of Cameroon, criss-crosses all the ten regions of the country with much-needed gifts for the population. Talking about the Makak Bilingual High School, the representative of the First Lady said the association could not remain insensitive to the dilapidated nature of the school which was created in 1978 and today hosts some 12,152 students, supervised by 1,400 staff. According to Felicité Beti Assomo, the decay of the school infrastructure certainly affected the quality of education given to students. Hence, hindered local development because of its impact on smooth running of lessons. Given that the need to pay attention to school infrastructure has also been recognised by the State, and clearly mentioned in the National Development Strategy 2020-2030, CERAC, in this light took its share of the responsibility. The rehabilitation, renovation and equipping of the Makak Bilingual High School was one of the priorities of CERAC this year. After overcoming so many challenges, the event to hand over the refurbished school according to the Representative of the First Lady was a moment of relief. “Our mission to Makak has been accomplished! The comfortable Makak Bilingual High School now has bright, airy rooms and equipment that meet standards. The new premises will make it easier for teachers to continue their task of transmitting knowledge to students with tact and talent,” she underscored.
