Guzang Summary Executions : Widespread Condemnations Across The Board

Since October 4, 2023 when armed terrorists summarily executed two civilians, Mbanyamsig Hansel Ndi and Aburo Cletus Njohgo at the Guzang Market Square, there has been widespread condemnations from the population, local administrative, legislative and traditional authorities and even from the ranks of the armed separatist group. What makes the killings more cruel and inhumane is the fact that in the video of the barbaric act that went viral in social media platforms, these civilians accused by their murderers as being informants of the defence and security forces were fired at in front of their own helpless parents, brothers, sisters, children and other villages. Guzang is a village in Batibo Subdivision, Momo Division of the North West Region.
A day after the heinous act, the Senior Divisional Officer for Momo, Fouda Etaba through a condemnation press release on October 5, 2023 confirmed the sad event. He disclosed that, “About 5 pm on October 4, a gang of armed terrorists invaded Guzang Village, kidnapped two civilians from their houses who were later summarily executed through random gun firing at the Guzang Market Square in front of a crowd of helpless onlookers.” The Momo SDO used the press release to “On behalf of government to extend his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to the entire Momo population.” He also called on the population who are subjected to constant torture by the bands of outlaws to fully collaborate with administrative, defence and security forces in a bid to fish out and bring to book criminals terrorizing villages.
