International Fund For Agricultural Development : Cameroon Assures Increased Support

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday October 9, 2023 received IFAD’s Director, Financial Management Services Division, Ruth Farrant during which the pledge was given.
Cameroon has promised increased contribution to the mandate of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). This was during an audience the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted to the Director, Financial Management Services Division of IFAD, Ruth Farrant on October 9, 2023. The pledge made by the Head of Government was received with excitement by the UN official.
Ruth Farrant who spoke to the press after the audience said they talked about IFAD’s contribution to agriculture projects in the country. She noted with excitement, the Prime Minister’s enthusiasm for ensuring that IFAD’s projects are effective and meet their objectives in Cameroon. “We have been speaking also about Cameroon’s contribution in the context of IFAD’s global 13th replenishment and we have received his assurance that Cameroon will be pledging and increasing its contribution to IFAD’s mandate. So, we take these words with great enthusiasm and we will take them back to our President in Rome,” she said.
IFAD’s Country Director for West and Central Africa Division, Emime Ndihokubwayo who presented an overview of the institution’s projects in Cameroon noted that IFAD has carried out 11 projects in 14 years to the tune of more than 250 million. “Currently, we have a project on value chain production on rice and onion which is being implemented in the North and Far North Regions. We have a new project that is coming which has been approved. It is called the aquaculture entrepreneurship programme....
