South West : Journalists Assist Needy Learners

The beneficiaries were urged to put the materials into good use so as to produce good results.

Journalists of South West extraction under of the umbrella of Development Advocacy Welfare Network (DAWN) have assisted disadvantaged children in remote areas in the South West Region with learning aids. The materials comprised of school bags, pens, mark sets, pens, pencils and chalk among others. They were also assisted with school fees and those in examination classes were offered registration fees for their end-of-course examinations. The distribution exercise kicked off in Buea on October 14, 2023 and shall continue in Ndian, Meme, Manyu, Lebialem and Kupe Muanenguba Divisions, thus reaching all the needy primary school learners in all the six administrative divisions of the South West Regions. DAWN counted over 1,000 beneficiaries. 
Tricia Oben, President of DAWN, expressed gratitude to all donors who responded favourably to their material and financial request for the exercise. Norbert Wasso, Committee Chair of the needy assistance project, urged the beneficiaries to put the materials into good use and let it cause them to achieve their dreams. That it will be the pride of DAWN to see the beneficiaries rise to the highest academic ladder.
