Regional Universities Forum : Actors Meet Tomorrow In Yaounde

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo has announced that Cameroon will host the 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Regional Universities Forum dubbed (RUFORUM). This was during a press conference yesterday October 26, 2023, in the presence of the Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobe and that of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taiga. 163 universities from 40 African countries are expected in Cameroon for the Forum which will run from October 28 to November 2, 2023 at the Yaounde Conference Centre.
The forum, which is placed under the patronage of the Head of State will focus on engaging governments and development partners to support Higher Education in Africa under the theme “Transforming Higher Education to Sustainably Feed and Create Prosperity for Africa.” Professor Fame Ndongo told the media that the Regional Universities Forum is of utmost importance to President Paul Biya, who is committed to building a third-generational university through “quality assurance, professionalism, digitisation of teaching and the employability of higher education graduates.” The other government Ministers took turns to reiterate how their ministries can work with universities to boost agro-pastoral production while improving production findings. 
The objective of the AGM is to provide a platform for agricultural research for development stakeholders in Africa and beyond, to actively engage and share lessons and experiences towards improving performance of the agricultural sector and ultimately people’s livelihoods while meeting with the SDGs.
