World Media Summit: Discussions Centre On Cooperation And Development

The WMS since its inception in October 2009 has in 14 years proven that it is indeed an initiative worth the tasks and costs that keep it alive with glaring impact. This year’s theme for the summit: “Boosting Global Confidence, Promoting Media Development”, is apt considering that the media cannot sit on the fence and watch our global village being threatened by geopolitical conflicts, deadly wars, terrorism, disease and natural calamities like global warming and landslides whereas these trends can be redressed, through cooperation, and the promotion of understanding.

During the plenary session on Sundays 3 December 2023, the Executive Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, CPC, Hu Heping, harped on the importance of the media in the crucial tasks of promoting understanding, peace and security in order to ensure development.

The Guangzhou 5th World Media Summit brings together some 450 delegates from 101 countries, our country, Cameroon represented.
During the plenary, the 17 speakers, most of them, political leaders, media professionals and university professors harped on the importance of cooperation for peace, security, and development.
