Advantages of Multisectoral Gatherings : Broad-based Development Opportunities

Several development opportunities are gained when economic get-togethers as the one-week development forum that held in Bafoussam, West Region from December 11-17, 2023 are organised. The initiative of the West Regional Council is to bring together as many stakeholders as possible on the same platform and chart development, from which sponsorship can be gained.
From the signing of multi-stakeholder partnerships, to securing funds for the execution of projects, transfer of technology and exchange of ideas on local development are some glaring positive opportunities being exploited from gatherings of such nature. Such forums focus on trends and progress in growth through national and international development cooperation, promotes knowledge sharing and mutual learning that encourages coherence in development policy. Regional and Municipal Councils are the main participants and through the exhibition of potentials from their respective municipalities, resources can be secured to enhance local development.
Development projects in Councils are in need of finances. Mayors get to meet to present their projects to national and foreign partners, and possibly get funding, given that international investors participate in such forums. As such, partnership agreements are signed for the funding of a project over a specified period of time.
