Enhancing Security : Authorities-Population Synergy Strongly Prescribed

This is the take home message to Regional Governors from Minister Paul Atanga Nji at the close of the second biannual conference of administrators yesterday December 20, 2023.
Governors of the ten regions of Cameroon have been instructed by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji to accompany the population in all their activities, for sustainable development. This is the take home message of the second biannual conference of regional Governors for 2023 which held under the theme, "Administrative Authorities, Security Issues and Socio-economic Challenges.” To the Territorial Administration Minister, Governors have the obligation to accompany the population in their daily activities, as a mechanism to hasten the return of peace and security. “This conference has also given us the opportunity to appreciate the general state of mind of our people. Grievances such as long-term load shedding, water cuts, the high cost of living and delays in the implementation of certain development projects should continue to be of concern to you. The need to respect the law was unanimously noted. You must not allow anyone to challenge the authority of the State,” Minister Atanga Nji told the Governors. The Minister also called on the administrative authorities to be very vigilant in their respective regions and send timely reports of any suspicious behaviour.
On the global security situation of the country, the Minister noted it is under the master and understanding of authorities as the State remains solid and institutions are functioning properly despite some challenges. Noting some security issues in the North West, South West and Far North Regions, the Minister said the general trend is that things are gradually returning to normalcy.
