End-of-year Feast : Traders Diversify Business Lines

Most business people in Douala have been diversifying opportunities to make more money during the festive period. Survival strategy is the word used by one of the traders who said they must incorporate other business line so as to make money during this period. The business people now sell items that are making fast cash during this period. The items range from dresses to shoes, decorative items, food items and many more. Stopping over in some shops nowadays, a client may get confused as their favorite shop has been transformed into new items that sell fast during this period.
Hortensia Ekwe who usually sells plastic containers has now transformed her shop into a fashion shop. She now sells dresses and shoes for kids. She also sells toys for kids. When CT met her she said she has to diversify so as to make money. She said during festive period, people hardly go for plastic containers thus business is slow. "I also need money during this period so I went in for a business that I can give me fast money. It is not the first time I am doing this, I change my line of every December," she said.
