Fish Farming, Milk Production : Gov’t Secures FCFA 130 Billion Funding

An agreement to that effect was signed at the Star Building yesterday December 28, 2023 between Cameroon and the Bridgin Foundation.
The government of Cameroon, through the Ministers of Fisheries, Livestock and Animal Industry, Dr. Taiga, and Trade, Luc Malgoire Mbarga Atangana, have signed a Funding Governance and Service Agreement (FGSA), with Bridgin Fondation; a Belgian-based company. It was signed yesterday December 28, 2023 in the presence of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute. Based on the FBOT (Finance-Build-Operate-Transfer) mode of contract, the agreement spans a period of 25 years and expected to be financed to the tune of FCFA 130 billion. Israeli and other western companies will according to the agreement, further sub-contract to local companies involved in fish and milk production. This explains why the head of diplomatic mission of the Israeli Embassy in Cameron was present at the event.
The Chief Executive Officer and President of the Bridgin Foundation, Prof. Tanko Mouhamadou said the gesture is in response to a request from the two abovementioned Ministers in March 2021 and the profits from the project will be used in the improvement of three main sectors notably; education, health and women empowerment.
For the Minister of Fisheries, Livestock and Animal Industry, fish farming and milk production are two important sectors that occupy considerable space in the import-substitution policy of the Head of State. Dr. Taiga said teams have been mobilised to w...
