Italy Tackles Earthquake Effects

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed Amatrice, Accumoli and Pescara del Tronto localities in the centre of Italy.

Italians are mourning the dead and are embarked on rescue efforts to salvage  the situation of citizens affected by the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the localities of Amatrice, Accumoli and Pescara del Tronto localities in the centre of Italy, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 morning.

BBC reported that at least 73 people were already found dead by yesterday afternoon  and rescuers were on frantic efforts to safe the lives of some 150 people declared missing. The death toll was expected to rise considering that many people were said still believed buried under the rubble. Some buildings in the capital, Rome reportedly shook for 20 seconds as the quake struck the regional border area of Umbria, Lazio and Le Marche. It was felt from Bologna in the north to Naples in the south.

The Mayor of Arquata del Tronto, Aleandro Petrucci, was quoted as saying, "The village isn't there any more.
