Nkambe : Explosive Kills One, Wounds Over 40 People

Activities to mark the 58th edition of the Youth Day started at the Nkambe Grandstand on February 11, 2024 in peace, zeal and determination to demonstrate attachment to republican institutions and values.
The joy and enthusiasm suddenly turned to mourning, pandemonium and melancholy when a locally made explosive was detonated closer to the Grandstand.  North West Regional Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique in an press interview said that one person was killed and over 40 wounded, four of whom sustained serious injuries.  The Governor said that the explosion took place two hours after the march past. He added that the explosive device was placed on a spot where people were selling foodstuff close to the grandstand.
