Developing Digital Economy : MTN Pledges More Support

The incoming Chairman of MTN Cameroon was received by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute , yesterday March 20, 2024.
Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday March 20, 2024 granted an audience to the new Chairman of MTN Cameroon, Ebenezer Essoka. Accompanied by the outgoing Chairman of the mobile telecommunication operator, Collin Mukete and the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon, Mitwa Ng’ambi, the personalities discussed strategic issues of cooperation and the corporate social responsibility of MTN. “We discussed a lot of issues with the Prime Minister. We talked on how MTN has been supporting the economy of this country. The Prime Minister reiterated areas of interests, that is things we should be focusing on. We did agree and allied on some key strategic issues we should be dealing with. One of them is better developing digital economy and working on the modernization of the optical fibre network cable. Those were the key two areas we discussed and we continue conversations going forward,” the new Chairman for MTN Cameroon stated.
The mobile telecommunications operator which is being innovative and supporting the digital change in the country has several programmes and accords to that effect with the government of Cameroon. Since its creation, MTN Cameroon has invested heavily in the construction of a 2G, 3G, 4G and 4.5G telecommunications network which is now very solid and extensive in the country.
