South West : Idenau Council, Users Pledge Devotion

The Mayor of Idenau Council, Tonde Lifanje Gabriel, has promised to improve on the services of his Council so as to better serve his population. He added that he will take immediate action for all the dirt dumped in Idenau town to be evacuated. He is equally going to embark on improving water supply to add to the pipe-borne water and the over 10 boreholes found in the town. Heads of service and chiefs of bureaus of Idenau Council in hygiene and sanitation, town planning, civil status and municipal police were told to ensure they fulfil their ethical obligations of serving the public. This was the outcome of a concertation with the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region on March 21, 2024 at the CDC Fire Burn Hall Idenau.
In attendance were traditional rulers, executives of bike riders, traders, civil society organisations, amongst others. Sitting in for the Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region, Fonju Bernard Njukang said they are on their feet to see that the Council better serves the population and that users too should comply with municipal orders. “We focused on how community stakeholders can impact on the quality of service delivery to citizens. Quality service delivery is not a one-way traffic or responsibility incumbent only on the Council. The local stakeholders also have an important role to play. So, we brought them together for us to establish a platform for better collaboration and to enable them make their contribution to the improvement of local governance,” he told the press.
