The civilian march-past at the 20th May Boulevard was graced with banners that added meaning to the celebration of the Unitary State.
A grand march-past to grace activities marking the 52nd edition of the National Day in Yaounde was punctuated with messages that added more meaning to the theme of the celebration: “Army and Nation Together for a United, Peaceful and Prosperous Cameroon”. The civilian parade witnessed at the 20th May Boulevard yesterday, gave an opportunity to Cameroonians without distinction of ethnic origin, religious confession, socio-professional groups or political allegiance to mark their attachment to republican values by brandishing messages of unity and national integration.
Calling for unity, peace and prosperity, the educational community at the Primary, Secondary and University levels marched past with a main banner which read: “Towards and Emerging Cameroon Through Economic Patriotism and Moral, Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament.”
In the patriotic song echoed at the May 20th Boulevard, the message was simple: “Let us bar the way to all sort of discrimination, combat any uncivil art while building a prosperous Cameroon in peace, love, joy and unity.” Pupils at the Basic Education sector through banners said the diversity of the nation is its identity, hence people should work together because that is the beginning of progress.
Those at the secondary education sector continued with a call for peace and security. In this light, they carried a banner which read: “One Nation, One Goal.” The march-past was also an opportunity for students from different schools in Yaounde to call for fellow Cameroonians...
