Human Rights : UN Official Makes Appraisal

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Africa, Abdou Abbary was received by the Chairperson of Cameroon’s Human Rights Commission on May 29, 2024.

 
Human Rights situations in member countries of the United Nations will be presented before the Security Council of the institution in June this year. This presentation is done in the form of reports that will be submitted by the different Special Representatives of the UN Secretary General at the regional levels, after a field visit. Against this backdrop, and within a framework of paving the way for better collaboration, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Central Africa, Abdou Abbary, was received in audience by the Chairperson of Cameroon’s Human Rights Commission, James Mouangue Kobila, on May 29, 2024. On a working visit in Cameroon, the senior official of the United Nations noted that he could not leave without meeting the Chairperson of the Commission to get information about the human rights situation in Cameroon. 
Noting that Cameroon serves as a model in the promotion of democracy and governance within the sub region, Abdou Abbary also said the country is facing some security challenges in the Far North, North West and South West Regions.
