CT 50th Anniversary : Guests savour Cameroon’s Tourism

Since Monday, July 1, the General Manager of SOPECAM has been leading a delegation of foreign media icons to the Nkolandom touristic center to feel the beautiful scenery.
"Cameroon is a blessed country..." This expression came up repeatedly from some SOPECAM guests as they crisscrossed the South Region to visit the Nkolandom touristic center, situated 18 km from the Region 's headquarters, Ebolowa. Coming on the heels of a hectic opening ceremony in the nation's capital Yaounde, the visitors were eager to quickly start the excursion. As usual, the people of Nkolandom gave them a foretaste of Cameroon’s hospitality in songs and dance. To welcome the General Manager and guests was the "Elongo Ndong" dance group. The calm and natural atmosphere of the area, spiced by various melodies, gave the august guests sound sleep and more energy to kick start the main day of the excursion in style.
Under the auspices of the General Manager, Marie-Claire Nnana and with the aid of the different guides at the Nkolandom touristic center, visitors were marveled at each stop. The Museum of Negro Arts of Nkolandom was the first stop of the visitors. With explanations from Assatong Temgoua Onel Junior, Conservator of the Museum, the visitors learned that the Museum's mission is to preserve, enhance, disseminate and educate on the know- how of African and Cameroonian customs in general and in particular the Ekang culture. It's collections, the guide went on, are made up of more than 1,000 objects that comprised, specimens of pre-historic objects and fauna, collections of objects made of wood, iron, copper, bronze, stone, clay soils, plants fibres, bones, vines and tree backs.
