National Assembly : House Speaker Recapitulates Activities

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril explained what legislators were able to do in the 30 days of work at the June session of Parliament that ended yesterday July 10, 2024.
A balance sheet of proceedings at the National Assembly during the June session of Parliament has been presented by House Speaker, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril as he chaired the closing plenary of the institution yesterday July 10, 2024. In attendance was the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, and members of the diplomatic corps.
As highlighted by the House Speaker, the session that began on June 11, 2024 was hectic as 10 bills, including that to extend the term of office of Members of the National Assembly, were scrutinised and adopted. “Three question time sittings and a plenary to scrutinise the 2025-2027 Medium Term Budgeting and Economic Planning Paper were held during the session. The 29th Meeting for the Committee on Finance and the Budget of the National Assembly to exchange views with the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court and the Fourth Congress of Parliament were also held during the session. In actual fact, the Senate and the National Assembly met in congress to administer the oath of office to Madam Florence Arrey Rita, a member of the Constitutional Council appointed by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya,” explained the House Speaker.
As concerns the state of affairs on the construction site of the new National Assembly Complex, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril noted that work is ongoing hitch-free and the different stakeholders in the project are now putting finishing touches in view of complying with scheduled deadlines. He revealed that orders have been placed for equipment to be installed in offices and the delivery of the said equipment will take place without undue delay.
