North West : Partnership To Alleviate Plight Of Disabled Persons

This is geared towards alleviating the plight of people living with disabilities in the NW Region.

The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region and the Director of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services on Friday July 19, 2024 signed a Memorandum of Understanding between their two institutions geared towards alleviating the plight of people living with disabilities in the North West Region. 
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Public Independent Conciliator Tanfu Simon Fai said the MoU was justified by the numerous complaints received at his office about discrimination and marginalization of persons living with disability in obtaining services in some councils and since part of the missions of his institution is  ensure the protection of the rights of all citizens in the region including those living with disabilities, they decided to sign the MoU with CBCHS which has similar motives through its SEEPD program.
According to Ngum Samuel, the Director of the CBC Health Services, the MoU marks a crucial step towards promoting health care to vulnerable people, especially people living with disabilities. He presented the CBC Health Services and the Special Program for the Disabled, SEEPD, launched in 2009. He said the MoU will lead towards a healthier, more inclusive and just society in the North West Region.
