2024 Olympic Games : President Paul Biya In Paris

Cameroon’s Presidential couple, Paul and Chantal Biya, received one of the warmest receptions from their compatriots based in France and environs when they arrived in Paris yesterday July 24, 2024 for the opening ceremony of this year’s Summer Olympic Games. The warmth of the France-based Cameroonian diaspora began at the Charles de Gaulle international airport in Paris where Cameroon’s Ambassador to France, André Magnus Ekoumou, welcomed the Presidential couple on arrival at the capital of the French Republic, from where they drove to their temporal residence at the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V.
Here, communion between the Head of State and his compatriots was total. Without distinction of culture or language, the Cameroonian diaspora in France and environs converged on the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V in downtown Paris to once again show their loyalty to the leader of an indivisible Cameroon and the Republican institutions he incarnates. 
Under the coordination of André Magnus Ekoumou, Cameroon’s Ambassador to France, they came out to welcome their leader and Cameroon’s first sports man, President Paul Biya who will tomorrow Friday July 26, 2024 join other world leaders for the Games’ official opener. 
After their motorcade taxied to a halt at the hotel, the visibly elated Presidential couple alighted to the applause of the jubilant crowd. They received bouquets of flowers from two Cameroonian youngsters, ten-year-olds Johane Serena Ndem and Cyprain Oneil Akwo, exchanged greetings and pleasantries with hotel officials, members of his accompanying delegation and officials of Cameroon’s embassy in Paris before taking leave of the crowd to settle down in their sumptuous flat after the over seven-hour Yaounde-Paris flight. 
The visible ecstasy on the faces of the population depicted their anxiety to once again commune with their leader. Some of them Cameroon Tribune met here in Paris happily said after his remarkable participation in the June 2023 Paris Summit on New Global Financing Pact, President Paul Biya’s presence at the Olympic Games is a plus. An added advantage to the mutually-beneficial Cameroon-France relations thanks to which they can go about their daily activities with relative ease and even more, a morale booster to the six athletes who will be representing Cameroon in the highly competitive Games to battle for medals and fame.
Of course, besides sports which has proven over the years to be a unifying factor among Cameroonians and between Cameroon and partners like France, President Paul Biya’s presence in Paris equally speaks volumes of the esteem he has for the long-standing Cameroon-France bilateral ties. An over 60-year-old bilateral partnership which is being fashioned by successive leaders of the two friendly countries for the good of their people.
