Enhancing Good Governance : Supreme State Audit Office Presents Contributions

During a conference granted by Minister Mbah Acha Rose at the 13th edition of SAGO, it was revealed that 137 cases were received and 1,058 people found guilty of irregularities between 2008 and 2023.
Strides and measures adopted by the Supreme State Audit Office (CONSUPE) in promoting transparency in the management of State funds, were yesterday July 24, 2024 presented to the public in the course of a conference at the ongoing 13th edition of the Government Action Fair, known as SAGO. Cabinet ministers, Regional Council Presidents, City and Municipal Mayors amongst others attended the round-table discussions on the theme; “The contribution of the Supreme State Audit Office, Supreme Audit Institution of Cameroon to Governance and the Improvement of Citizen’s Living Conditions.” The crucial role played by CONSUPE in promoting good governance and improving citizen’s lives through the prevention of public fund misappropriation, intensification of audits and systematic sanctioning of defaulters was clearly outlined in the conference chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit Office, Mbah Acha Rose. From the conference, it emerged that some 137 cases were received at the Budget and Finance Disciplinary Board of the institution between 2008 to 2023. Within the same period, 1,058 persons were found guilty of irregularities and sanctions meted to the tune of FCFA 145 billion.
In her introductory remark, Minister Mbah Acha Rose noted that they are “a transparent gendarme of the State” and the conference aims at demystifying the myth around the institution.
She noted that they are more focused in preventing mismanagement as the inconveniences after the act cannot be fully recovered. Their missions, the Minister reiterated are stated in the September 4, 2013 decree and other legal instruments.
