Promoting Nutrition Security : World Food Programme Appreciates Gov’t Efforts

Prime Minister, Head of Government, yesterday, July 24, 2024 received the outgoing Country Director and Representative of the UN agency, Wanja Kaaria who has come to the end of her term.
The outgoing Country Director and Representative of the World Food Programme, Wanja Kaaria, who has come to the end of her assignment in Cameroon, after four years of service, has expressed gratitude to the government for the collaboration and resources made available to fight food insecurity. She was received at the Star Building by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday July 24, 2024, who granted her a farewell audience. “While I was Representative for the four years, we were able to serve about a million people who are in need of food assistance in Cameroon. We have not only done that with resources coming from abroad. We have also received substantial resources from the government of Cameron as well. So today was also to appreciate and recognise Cameroon as being the second largest donor to the Wold Food Programme in Cameroon because, they have put in significant resources to address the problem of food insecurity, but also to make sure that moving forward, we not only depend on our assistance, but also develop a self-sustaining opportunity for communities so that they are self-reliant,” she noted. The outgoing head of the UN agency for food security already expressed the fact that WFP will continue to be at the side of the government as Cameroon moves forward in achieving the SND 30.
