2024 Olympic Games : Race For Medals Begins

China won the first gold medal in the Games that kicked off on July 26, 2024 in Paris.

After the official kick off of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris the race for medals is on in the different competition venues. Châteauroux was home to the first Olympic medals of these Paris 2024 Games. China kicked off the Paris 2024 Olympics with a bang, securing the first gold medal of the Games on Saturday July 27, 2024 in the 10m air rifle mixed team event which took place at the Castelroussins. Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao of China clinched the top spot with a final score of 16-12 against South Korea's Kim Jihyeon and Park Hajun. 
The Chinese team continued their winning streak, bagging a second gold in the women's diving competition. Australia also had a strong start, bringing home two gold medals. The first was earned in road cycling, while Ariane Titmus defended her 400m freestyle title in swimming, outperforming Summer McIntosh of Canada and Katie Ledecky of the USA. France the host country have already won three medals; one gold, one silver and one bronze. 
France's first gold medal was in in rugby sevens. With the tournament kicking off in midweek, Antoine Dupont and his rugby sevens team-mates played their semi-final against South Africa on Saturday July 27, 2024. By winning a match whose scenario took shape in the second half, Les Bleus reached the final. The final was to be a rematch with Fiji, who had beaten Les Bleus in the group stage.
