Huawei ICTs Competition : Buea University Flies Cameroon High In China

Through the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, it gained prizes at the global competition that assembled over 165 teams worldwide.

The University of Buea (UB) through the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) has brought glory to Cameroon in the world of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). This was recently in China during the Global stage of the Huawei ICTs competition counting for 2023/2024 session that grouped 165 teams. Team Cameroon competed in two tracks: notably the Network Track (three students) and Cloud Computing Track (three students). Three out of the six students were from UB and they won the 1st prize in the Network Track and the 3rd prize in the Cloud Computing Track. The laureate in Network Track is Nguepi Gnetedem Paterson alongside other members of team Cameroon while in Cloud Track the two winners are Azefack Junior and Kouete Tepe Kenneth. A total of 30 teams from Africa qualified to the global competition in China. 
Prior to the Global stage of the Huawei ICTs competition in China, there was a Northern Africa Regional stage of the ICTs Competition during which five FET students out of nine students from Cameroon won five prizes in March 2024 in Tunisia. 
The national stage of this competition took place in Yaounde during which seven FET students won seven prizes out of a total of 12 that were awarded by Huawei Technologies Ltd Cameroon. The prizes were awarded to FET students in the presence of Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga, Vice Chancellor of UB and Dr. Engr Wirnkar Basil Nsanyuy, the Focal Point of UB Huawei ICTs Academy.
