FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup : Lionesses Intensify Preparations

Some 30 players are polishing their skills in the third training camp that kicked off at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo on July 22, 2024.

Preparations have reached high gear in the country ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup that will take place in Colombia. The head coach, Hassan Balla has called up some 30 players to take part in the third training camp at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo near Yaounde. On his list are four goalkeepers, ten defenders, eight midfielders and eight defenders. The group is made up of local players selected from the Guinness Super League championship. The head coach, Hassan Balla Abdoussalami and the players are working out winning strategies in order to ensure the best results. Training takes place twice daily in the playground of the centre.  
As part of the training the Lionesses will play friendly matches with some clubs in the country. The aim is to ensure that the girls have assimilated the lessons learned during their training sessions. The third training session which started on July 22 will run till July 31, 2024. Coach Hassan Balla said the third training camp is focused on athletic and physical training. “At the same time, we got into the technical and tactical side of things, and I think we are well on the way to finishing this third phase on August 1, 2024,” he said.
