Switzerland : 733rd National Day Celebrated

Last Thursday’s event at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel was also an opportunity for H. E Martin Strub and wife to say goodbye.


“The construction of a new Switzerland Embassy in Yaounde, which includes offices and residence, is expected to begin.” The assurance was given on Thursday August 1, 2024 by the Swiss Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Martin Strub, during celebrations marking the 733rd Anniversary of the Confederation. Flanked by H.E Felix Mbayu, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, other cabinet ministers and the diplomatic corps, H.E Strub underlined his country’s “strong commitment to continuing and even strengthening relations with Cameroon.” He thanked the authorities and guests for helping to make his three-year stay in Cameroon with the wife Marcela a great success. “We spent three interesting years during which we had the opportunity to discover this country from north to south and east to west. We will say goodbye to Cameroon and its people, as well as to our many friends. We would also like to thank you all…to the Cameroonian authorities and many other people across the country who helped make our stay in Cameroon so pleasant and unforgettable” he emphasized.
On the Swiss Confederation which is now 733 years old, H.E Strub said, “The Confederation has gone through many tormented periods, but it has managed to survive all attacks coming from inside or outside the country.
