ANAFOOT’s Regional Poles Tournament : Competition Kicks Off

A total of ten teams are vying for the trophy in the competition that began on August 19, 2024 at the Presidential Guard Stadium in Yaounde.


The race for the trophy of the fourth edition of the National Football Academy’s Regional Poles Tournament officially kicked off at the Presidential Guard Sports Complex in Obili, Yaounde, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Organised by the National Football Academy (ANAFOOT), this year’s event brings together 160 of the Academy’s best young male players in the U17 category. The players representing the ten regional poles were selected after evaluations in each of their respective zones. 
During the opening match played on August 20, 2024, the East Region beat the Centre Region 1-0.  In the other matches played yesterday August 21, 2024, the Littoral Region beat West Region 2-1. In pool B, the North Region drew 1-1 with the North West Region. In Pool A, the East Region beat the Adamawa Region 2-0. 
Speaking at the occasion, the Director of ANAFOOT expressed satisfaction with the presence of the youths of all the ten regions of the country coming together. He said the goal of the tournament is to give a chance for the youths to showcase their skills. “All what we are doing is for the youth and I am confident with Cameroon football,” he said. The National technical Director,Engelbert Mbarga hailed the ANAFOOT officials for their efforts in the development of football in Cameroon. The East Region is toping Pool A with four points followed by the Littoral with three points and West with one point. In Pool B, the Far North is on top with three points.
